Huge matchups scheduled between female distance stars in multiple events.
According to the USATF, female distance athletes are stepping up in multiple events in search of world team berths. Jenny Barringer and Anna Willard are tabbed to face off in both the 1500m and 3000m steeplechase. Barringer is ranked number two in the world in the 1500 and number three in the world in the steeplechase. Willard is ranked number four in the world in both events.
If that isn’t enough, we can also look forward to double match-ups between Shalane Flanagan and Kara Goucher in the 5000m and 10000m races. If you remember their battles at these distances in last year’s Olympic Trials, you won’t want to miss the renewal of their great rivalry. Flanagan is the American record holder in both events and defending champion in the 10000m. Goucher is ranked number two in the US in both events and is the defending champion in the 5000m.
