Cal Poly SLO grad has taken the track and field world by storm.
American 800m specialist Maggie Vessey posted the top time in the world this year winning the Herculis Super Grand Prix in Monaco with a time of 1:57.84. Vessey had some solid wins under her belt including Prefontaine and Rome Golden Gala, but was unable to hit the “A” qualifying standard (2:00.00) she needed to make the world championship team for the US. Vessey has now secured her spot on the team with the fastest time by an American since Jearl-Miles Clark posted a 1:57.27 in 2003.
