Women’s marathon world record holder thought she may have been at the end of her career prior to surgery.
It looks as though the sport dodged a bullet, as women’s world record holder in ther marathon Paula Radcliffe was very closed to retirement. According to an interview with The Mirror Radcliffe was close to retirement before she had foot surgery earlier in the year. Now that she has had the surgery she says she re-energized and ready to tackle the Olympics in 2012.
Next on tap for Radcliffe…looks like she may look to defend her title at the 2009 ING New York City Marathon in November. No official word on this, but it seems the likely scenario.
