American record holder in the half marathon will make Philadelphia debut.
Ryan Hall, American record holder at the half marathon distance, has been confirmed for the 2009 ING Philadelphia Distance Run on September 20th. Hall said of the race, ““I’m looking forward to racing my first ING Philadelphia Distance Run this September. There have been some great U.S. performances at the race over the years and I’m hoping to bring a performance that will add my name to the ranks.”
Hall is coming off a fantastic third place finish at the 2009 Boston Marathon and is using the Philly race as a tune-up for the 2009 ING New York City Marathon. Hall set the American record of 59:43 in 2007 at the US Half Marathon Championships in Houston, Texas.
The ING Phildelphia Distance Run is in it’s 32nd year and has been host to impressive half marathon times over the years. The course, which takes a tour of historic Philadelphia, has played host to five world and five American records.
