World Cross Country Championships No Longer A Yearly Affair

Due to the loss in popularity the event will no longer be held every year.

The IAAF Congress voted to change the frequency of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships to every-other-year intead of holding a yearly competiiton. Due to the lack in popularity and prize money, many top athletes will skip the championship for more lucrative road race ventures. Just two years ago the IAAF changed the format from two distances per gender, back to just one distance per gender.
