Gebrselassie Wins, Misses Record In Berlin

Warm weather sabotaged Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie’s assault on his own marathon world record (2:03:59) at Sunday’s Berlin Marathon, but he still won the race in 2:06:08.
A much anticipated duel between Gebrselassie and the second-best all-time marathon performer, Duncan Kibet of Kenya, never really materialized, as Kibet dropped off the pace early and eventually abandoned the race.
