To be based on the book The Perfect Distance.

During the 1980’s, there was no rivalry as fierce as that between British middle distance stars Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett. The BBC has announced they will produce a film based on the two running legends, to be released before the 2012 London Olympics. Pat Butcher’s The Perfect Distance will be the basis for the screenplay.
Coe and Ovett traded world records and Olympic titles like they were baseball cards during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. During a span of 10 days in 1981, the men exchanged the one-mile world record three times. The movie will help bring the real lives of the men in to the very public competitive side the world witnessed.
