Limited Charity Entries Available for Encore Edition of Seattle’s Premier Running Event

Seattle, Wash. – March 30, 2010 – The excitement for the Pacific Northwest’s largest running and musical event continues to grow, as the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & 1/2 Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society® has reached its capacity of 28,000 entrants.“We are thrilled the event was such a success in its inaugural year that even more runners registered even earlier this year,” said Elizabeth O’Brien, Event Director. “A majority of the participants are traveling to Seattle from out of town. This means not only millions of dollars for local businesses, but a community-wide focus on health and well being that is sure to continue long after event weekend. For runners still looking for a way into this year’s field, a limited number of entries remain available through the American Cancer Society, our official charity.”

In partnership with Seafair, the success of Seattle’s second Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon follows a sold-out inaugural event that attracted 25,000 runners last summer. The 2009 race generated a local economic impact of $30.8 million and 12,223 hotel room nights according to a San Diego State University study.

For the June 26 event, a select number of spots have been reserved for the event’s official charity, the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation program. For more information about how to join the growing American Cancer Society DetermiNation team, please visit acsDetermiNation.org.
