The USATF Occidental High Performance meet held Friday evening was small and low-key, but fast nonetheless. Several of America’s top middle distance talents used it to tune up for the upcoming USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Leo Manzano ran to an impressive win in the men’s 1500m, clocking 3:36.74. In the men’s 800m, David Torrence followed up his victory in the USA 1 Mile Road Championship the previous week with another victory, in 1:47.37.
The women’s 800m was absolutely loaded. Trenierre Clement-Moser defeated Morgan Uceny and Olympians Shannon Rowbury, Jenny Barringer, and Erin Donohue, with a time of 2:01.33. In the women’s 1500m, Shalane Flanagan, still trying to find her magnificent form of 2008, was defeated by Nicole Edwards of Canada (4:06.34) and Jemma Simpson of Great Britain (4:06.39).
