Kemboi, Deba Win Grandma’s Marathon

Defending champion Chris Raabe finishes sixth overall.

Kenyan Philemon Kemboi broke the tape at Saturday’s Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, posting a winning time of 2:15:44. Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba won the women’s race in a personal best 2:31:35 to claim her first marathon victory.

Defending champion Chris Raabe of Washington, DC, finished sixth overall and top American in 2:17:43. Raabe was the only non-Kenyan to finish in the top 10. Mary Akor of Hawthorne, California was the top American woman across the finish line, posting a time of 2:38:01, good for fourth place.
