Organizers of the Quad-City Times Bix 7, which will play host to the US. 7-mile road race championships in Davenport, Iowa tomorrow, have released their final fields of elite athletes. Missing from the final roster are the event’s original headliners, Meb Keflezighi and Molly Huddle. Keflezighi, a two-time Bix winner and the defending champion, was forced to withdraw with a knee injury. Huddle, the women’s defending champion, has decided to extend her European track season.
The men’s field is now headed by US. half marathon record holder Ryan Hall. Hall was to originally race at the Giro di Castelbuono in Italy on Monday, but withdrew earlier this month after he and wife Sara decided to cancel their July trip to Europe. For Hall, 27, it will be his first run at Bix.
NCAA 5000-meter and 10,000-meter champion Lisa Koll, 22, is now the favorite in the women’s field and is making her professional road racing debut. Koll is coming off of a personal record performance over 5000 meters in Paris last Friday where she ran 14:55.74.
