A record 38,132 runners crossed the finish line of Sunday’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon on a warm day in the windy city. Both the men’s and women’s elite races saw repeat winners, as Kenyan Sammy Wanjiru outsprinted Etiopian Tsegaye Kebede to break the tape in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 24 seconds and Russia’s Liliya Shobukhova took the women’s crown in 2:20:25.
