On the 2500-year anniversary of the famous race, two event records were set.
Raymond Bett of Kenya won Sunday’s race in an event record 2:12:40. Lithuania’s Rasa Drazdaukaite won the women’s race in 2:31:06, which was also an event record.
“I didn’t expect to win,” said Bett,”but you never know. It was very hot and very tough, and there was a lot of competition. I say to God, thank you for giving me the strength.”
