Bay Area Track Club Announces XC Nationals Tuneup

American athletes who plan to run the USA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Feb. 5, in San Diego, now have a tune-up race they can enter three weeks before.  The Bay Area Track Club announced today a new cross country competition scheduled for Sunday, January 16, at the Polo Fields of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco: the inaugural Bay Area Cross Challenge.

With a minimum prize money purse of $9000, the event will offer a junior women’s 4K, junior men’s 6K; open women’s 6K, and an open men’s 8K.  Organizers said that Olympians Magdalena Lewy Boulet, Shannon Rowbury, Abdi Abdirahman, and Bolota Asmerom will attend and support the event.
