Big Names At USATF Club Champs

A $30,000 purse is on the line in Charlotte, North Carolina this Saturday.

More than 100 club teams will square off at the 2010 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte, N.C this weekend. More than 1100 individual runners have entered the race, which includes a 10K for the men and a 6K for the women.

According a press release from the USATF, the top individual contenders for the women are Desiree Davila of Hansons-Brooks, Renee Metivier Baillie of Running Republic of Boulder, Clara Grandt of RIADHA, and Nicole Feest of Boulder Running Company/adidas.

In the men’s division, Michael Crouch, Aaron Braun, and Brett Gotcher of McMillan Elite should be in the hunt for the win. Jason Hartmann (unattached) is also a key contender.

The clubs are competiting for a total prize purse of $30,000.

At a club level, all eyes will be on two-time women’s team champions, Boulder Running Company/adidas as well as the 2008 men’s team titlist, McMillan Elite of Flagstaff, Arizona.
