Two of England’s fastest runners are heading to Scotland in January.

Watch out Dathan Ritzenhein and Galen Rupp: The British are coming. On January 8, two of England’s best runners, Mo Farah and Chris Thompson, will race on the Great Britain/Northern Ireland squad in the Men’s International Team Challenge at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country in Scotland.

Farah is coming off an incredible outdoor season. In August, he won the 10,000m at the European Championships, while his teammate and friend Chris Thompson placed second. Farah also won the 5,000m title there.

Referring to his current stay at an altitude camp in Kenya, Farah had this to say about the upcoming race: ”I’m currently in the middle of a great block of focused of training in Kenya and I’m looking forward to returning to compete for the Aviva Great Britain & Northern Ireland team in Edinburgh alongside the boys that did a good job for us out at the European Cross.”

Also in the mix in Edinburgh will be a separate European team headed by Ukraine’s Sergey Lebid. Lebid recently won his ninth European Cross-Country title.
