His ankle continues to plague him.
According to an article posted on the USA Today Web site, American marathoner Dathan Ritzenhein has withdrawn from this year’s Virgin London Marathon. He made this decision due to a persistent ankle injury and feels that he cannot improve upon his marathon PR (2:10:00) because of it.
Race director Dave Bedford offered the following short comment about Ritzenhein’s decision: “Unfortunately he has been beaten by injury. We wish him well and hope to see him in the future.”
Ritzenhein placed ninth in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He is 28 years old.
