T.J. heads to Hermosa Beach for his CrossFit Endurance certification.

Today I head for Hermosa Beach, Calif., to Crossfit South Bay for a weekend program on Crossfit Endurance. The weekend will start off with a free seminar at Crossfit Southbay where the questions can be posed to CFE founder, Brian MacKenzie and his fellow experts.

I’m looking forward to digging into the specifics of MacKenzie’s approach to training for endurance sports: a focus on high-intensity sport-specific work with all the junk miles taken out and a reliance on Crossfit-style conditioning to build the following: strength, balance, power, metabolic conditioning and mobility.

The CFE certification includes “a focus on biomechanics, the science of running, nutrition, injury prevention and programming implementation. We focus on quality of training, not quantity.”

Check back on Monday for a report from Crossfit South Bay and a deep look into the world of CFE.
