Recently un-retired marathon world-record holder adds another event to his schedule.

In a video on the Vienna Marathon website, marathon world-record holder Haile Gebrselassie announced he will take part in a special half-marathon “chase race” at the event, slated for April 17, 2011–the same day as the London Marathon and one day before the Boston Marathon.

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Vienna and visiting this beautiful city,” Gebrselassie said. “Running in Vienna is special for me. It will be a thrilling contest for everyone.”

Gebrselassie, who announced his retirement from competitive distance running after dropping out of the ING New York City Marathon in November, only to change his mind just two weeks later, will celebrate his 38th birthday the day after the Vienna event.
