Manzano, Reid, Chelanga will race in Boston on Saturday.

United States 1,500-meter Olympian Leo Manzano has been added to the elite men’s men’s mile for Saturday’s New Balance Grand Prix meet in Boston, and reigning NCAA cross country champions Sheila Reid and Sam Chelanga will run the women’s mile and men’s 3,000 meters, respectively.

Manzano, who last summer posted the fourth-fastest mile in U.S. history with a 3:50.64 clocking, won his first U.S. Indoor title at 1,500 meters in 2010 at 1500m and was ranked #1 in the US by Track & Field News for the year. In Boston, Manzano will line up against Olympic Silver Medalist Nick Willis and high school phenom Lukas Verzbicas. American record holder in the mile, Alan Webb, has scratched from the field.

In the women’s mile, Reid will look to challenge the Villanova’s school record of 4:28.31 held by Vicki Huber. Fellow Canadian and Villanova alum, Carmen Hussar, along with world indoor champion Kalkidan Gezahegne from Ethiopia, are also in the field. In the men’s 3,000, three-time NCAA champion Chelanga will compete against multiple-time European Champion Mo Farah, as well as Ethiopian Dejen Gebremeskel.
