Oregon Track Club teammates will go after world championships standard in the 5,000 meters.

Sub-13 minute 5,000-meter men Chris Solinsky and Matt Tegenkamp, who train together under coach Jerry Schumacher in Portland, Oregon, will be part of a loaded race at the IAAF Melbourne Track Classic in Australia on March 3.

The field also includes Australian national record holder Craig Mottram, who has run 12:55.76 for the distance. The race doubles at the Australian national championship and will be aimed at getting the world championships A-standard qualifying time of 13:20.

Solinsky, who ran 26:59 last  May in the 10,000 meters to shatter Meb Keflezighi’s nine-year-old American record, has the second fastest 5,000-meter time in U.S. history behind Bernard Lagat. Tegenkamp is a World Championship and Olympic finalist in the event, and was the third American in history to break 13 minutes for the 12-1/2 lap race.
