A meeting of record holder and potential record holder is going to take place on Wednesday in England. Sir Roger Bannister, the first human to run sub-4:00 for the mile will be meeting Andy McMenemy at the historic Iffley Road running track in Oxford, England. McMenemy is going for the record of running 66 ultra marathons in 66 days. The current world record is 52 ultras in 52 days. McMenemy is currently on his 36th. He is completing the feat to raise money for The Soldiers’ Charity, which supports armed forces personnel in need.
The legendary Bannister is fully behind McMenemy’s feat. “I am delighted to be supporting this superb ultra-marathon run and look forward to being there and meeting Andy McMenemy and the members of the team,” he said. “‘I wish Andy the best of luck in achieving his goal of setting a new world record.”
