He plays Demetri the vampire in the movies.
“Twilight” actor Charlie Bewley completed the Vancouver Marathon last Sunday. The race had a special meaning for him; he was running it for Jocelyn Clarke, a stunt double and friend who died of cancer in February.
Mr. Bewley had raised $20,000 before the race. The money will go to the hospital that helped care for his late friend, the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. In the “Twilight” movie Bewley plays the vampire Demetri.
The Vancouver Marathon raises approximately $40,000 a year for five different charities. An estimated 15,000 runners took part in this year’s edition. When the race first began in 1972 there were only 46 runners.
Benard Onsare of Calgary won this year’s race. His finishing time was 2:19:59. Gilbert Kiptoo of Kenya took second. The women’s winner was Keddi-Anne Sherbino, while Allison Macsas settled for second.
The Vancouver Marathon is billed as a scenic course that takes runners through the following locales: False Creek, Gastown, Stanley Park, English Bay, and Point Grey. It ends at Concord Place.
