The Lake Atitlán Marathon is held in May in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, the “Land of the Living Maya”. Lake Atitlán supports 12 lakeside communities and is in a bowl 1560 meters or 5,100 feet above sea level, surrounded by even higher volcanoes and steep slopes.
