CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Corvallis Half Marathon has opened registration and announced a $2500 prize purse for their second edition on April 15, 2012 through Strands Fitness Events.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Strands for next year’s race to provide a prize purse,” says race director Tyler Childers. “We are all very proud of the running community in Corvallis and look forward to hosting the elites that come to compete for the new prize purse.”
Last year the event was won by former University of Michigan All-American Michael Wisniewski of Corvallis and Becky Manuel (Beaverton, Ore.) in 1 hour, 7 minutes, 16 seconds and 1:24:23, respectively.
In addition to adding elites to the front of the race, Childers vows to continue with the standard set in the first year event of offering a great value for participants. After selling out in the inaugural year, the race committee increased its registrant cap to 2,500 participants.
All proceeds from the half-marathon will go to local charities.
