The Team USA Arizona athlete is ready for top performance.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Team USA Arizona’s Nick Arciniaga will represent the United States at the IAAF World Championships Marathon in Daegu, Korea, on Sunday, Sept. 4.
Arciniaga, 28, sponsored by adidas, earned a spot on the U.S. marathon team with his runner-up finish (2 hours, 11 minutes, 30 seconds, a personal record) at the Chevron Houston Marathon in January 2010.
Greg McMillan, head coach of the club team adidas-McMillanElite, expects a stellar performance from his breakout marathoner, as long as he’s not overcome by the heat and humidity. The temperature in Daegu is expected to reach 100 degrees on the morning of the race – certainly not ideal conditions for a marathon McMillan noted.
“Nick is the fittest he’s ever been going into a marathon. The hardest part for him is that he’s never run a marathon in such arduous conditions before,” said McMillan. “But one thing is certain: Nick will do his best on marathon day – no matter what – and if he feels good and is near the top 10 at 15 miles, he’s got a shot at placing high and even medaling.”
Also representing the USA at the World Championships Marathon are Jeffrey Eggleston of Flagstaff; Sergio Reyes (Palmdale, Calif.); Mike Sayenko(Bellevue, Wash.) and Mike Morgan (Rochester Hills, Mich.).
