The LSC Half Marathon Training Program, sponsored by Jewish Sports Medicine and Swag’s Sport Shoes, is a free, 12-week program that will allow runners to put their best foot forward in the event. Training Program information is available for downloading at www.lscmarathon.com/training-schedule.

Complimentary Consumer’s Choice coffee and hot chocolate will be offered at the start and finish; Bearno’s Pizza and BBC Beer (for runners 21 and over) will also be offered at the finish line. Other race perks are: long-sleeve adidas Tech Shirts in male and female fits, Louisville Pure Tap Water, Powerade from local Coca-Cola Bottlers and live entertainment at the finish and spots along the course. Online registration for the Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon is $65 through October 3 and $75 until registration closes on November 4; go to: www.lscmarathon.com.

The Half Marathon will include the Anthem Corporate Challenge competition, with each team consisting of between three and five participants that run the entire 13.1-mile course. Participants in the Corporate Challenge must be at least 18 years old on race day and must be employees, or employee spouses, of the company they are representing. Employment or relationship must be verified to compete. Results will be computed by accumulating a team’s three fastest (out of a possible five) finish times. Cost is $75 per person for the Anthem Corporate Challenge. To enter, contact Julie Howell at jhowell@louisvillesports.org or (502) 587-7767.

For those walkers and runners who aren’t ready for the half-marathon distance, the inaugural Louisville Pure Tap 5K will feature a course that goes through downtown Louisville with a great view of the Ohio River. Race registration is $20 per person, with a free t-shirt to the first 500 registrants. This family-friendly race will offer age-group awards. The races are open to both runners and walkers.
