Earlier this week, 16-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps joined eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno for a track run and swim session at Chelsea Piers in New York City as part of Ohno’s ongoing training for the ING New York City Marathon in November. Members of the media were invited to run alongside Ohno and Phelps.

In an interview with Universal Sports, Phelps had said he didn’t like running too much, while Ohno, who swims on his cross-training days, held his own with a strong butterfly and backstroke.

Ohno most recently completed the Chicago Half Marathon – his first half marathon – on Sept. 11, in which he finished in 1:40:59.

Phelps is an American swimmer who’s won 16 Olympic medals while Ohno is a short track speedskater who’s won eight Olympic medals.
