After nearly being killed by a car, most runners would hang up the shoes for a long time, but not actress Reese Witherspoon. In September, the star of the movie Legally Blonde was out for a jog when she was knocked down by an elderly woman driver at a pedestrian crossing in Santa Monica, California.

Witherspoon, who suffered lacerations to her face, did not press charges after the accident that occurred in near the 20th Street and Georgina Avenue area of the city.

The vehicle had been traveling approximately 20 miles per hour when it struck the actress. The 84-year-old driver was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian. Days later, Witherspoon was seen with a cut on her forehead, a black, eye, and bandages on her knee.

According to the Guardian Web site, Witherspoon has returned to running. She is currently working on a new film “This Means War”, alongside actress Chelsea Handler.
