U.S. Champions Appearing At Legends Run

Bill Rodgers will be taking part in the inaugural race.

If you want to meet some of the best American distance runners past and present, then consider heading to Middletown, Conn. on June 30.

According to a report posted on Running USA, former Boston Marathon Champions Bill Rodgers and Amby Burfoot will appear at the inaugural Legends Run, a four-mile road race .

Rodgers not only won Boston, but he also prevailed in New York City in the 1970s a total of four times for each marathon.

He represented Team USA at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and once held the American record in the marathon. Rodgers currently resides in Hartford, Conn.

Burfoot won Boston in 1968 and has enjoyed a successful career as a running journalist.

In addition to these past legends, current American steeplechaser Donn Cabral, will be taking part in the race. Cabral owns the current U.S. collegiate record for the steeple. He represented the United States at the 2012 Olympics in London.
