Cadet: Natalie Hopper

Age: 42 | City: Overland Park, Kan.

Natalie is a Kansas City native and a small business owner. Aside from running she enjoys traveling to warm places, watching her children in sports and attending country concerts with her friends. This is Natalie’s first marathon that she’s training for with her friend and neighbor, Holly Jaeger. She says, “we’re excited to be able to do this race in Kansas with the love and support of our friends and families.”

Vet: Holly Jaeger

Age: 38 | City: Overland Park, Kan.

This will be Holly’s third marathon. “I’ve always been a runner,” she says. “In my early years I learned how to run from my dad. I loved spending that time with him and he taught me so much!  I started out in sprints and hurdles in high school and college. I devoloped a like for distance after college when I started running further for exercise.  A marathon was always on my ‘bucket list,’ and I decided on a whim that I would start training with my friends. My first was the Kansas City Marathon, and  I was so happy to qualify for Boston. I ran Boston in 2010, and it was an amazing experience.”

“Natalie is one of my best friends and I am looking forward to helping her reach her goal of finishing her first marathon in Kansas City!” Holly says.

The Saucony 26 Strong project will pair experienced marathoners (“vets”) with first-timers (“cadets”) as they both train to achieve their marathon goals. Although running is an individual sport, these runners will exemplify how we are stronger as teams than alone.
