The annual Big Sur Marathon continues to set records. This time, according to a report by Running USA, the scenic California race sold out in exactly 59 minutes on Monday.

Runners from 49 states and 25 countries snagged the 3,000 open slots available for the event that kicks off on April 27 of next year.

In addition, the popular Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge is also sold out.

Runners still interested in taking part in Big Sur can still do so through a limited amount of charity runner slots.

There are also options for races held in conjunction with the marathon during that race weekend — events include the 21-Miler, a marathon relay, a 9-Miler, and a 5K.

Registration for the 10.6-miler has not yet opened.

“We were expecting a strong response, but this is incredible,” said Big Sur race registrar Sally Smith. “After last year’s 26 hour sell out we knew it would go fast so have been promoting the July 15th date in all our communications including Facebook, Twitter, eblasts and race expos.”
