Runners have the option to honor the legendary Mustang.

It may not seem obvious, but there is a link between running and driving.

Specifically, the Mustang Club of America (MCA) announced a new half-marathon that takes place next April. The event is called the Mustang 50th Half Marathon & 5K presented by Shelby American.

A one-time race, the festivities kick off at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will be held in conjunction with the famous car’s 50th anniversary.

According to the race’s website, every finisher will receive a one-of-a-kind commemorative medal.

“We are thrilled to bring an exciting one-time-only running event to the 50th Mustang Birthday Celebration at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in April 2014. The chance to win a Shelby GTS is a fantastic bonus to this unique event,” said Ron Bramlett of the MCA.

To make things even more interesting, all half-marathon registrants are eligible to win a one-off Shelby Mustang GTS convertible. The odds of winning the car are better than one in 15,000.
