The Dutch bank has been associated with the race since 2003.
ING, which became the title sponsor of the New York City Marathon in 2003, is reportedly ending its relationship with the race.
According to a report in the Sports Business Journal, the Amsterdam-based international bank will not sign another contract with the race. The original deal was supposed to expire at the end of 2012, but it was extended to the end of 2013 because of last year’s race being canceled due to Hurricane Sandy.
The Journal says that ING broke the news to marathon officials last week.
The New York Road Runners, which puts on the marathon and several other races in New York, is already working on finding a replacement sponsor. One potential suitor is BMW, according to the story.
