Runner Breaks ‘Zombie Costume’ World Record

Some race finishers said they felt like he looked.

The Independent out of Ireland is reporting on a new running world record. No, it doesn’t have to do with Wilson Kispang or Patrick Makau. This record was set last weekend at the Dublin Marathon by Sean McShane, a member of the North Belfast Harriers running club.

McShane clocked 3:18 for the 26.2 miles while dressed up as a zombie.

“I had to apply to the Guinness World Records to do it,” he said. “They gave me a time of three-and-a-half hours and I did it in 3:18 so it’s official!”

Not surprisingly McShane’s costume contained a lot of fake blood and convincing facial prosthetics.

In other Dublin Marathon news, over 14,000 runners completed the annual event. Sean Hehir of Ireland won the men’s division, clocking 2:18:19. He was the first Irishman to win the race since John Treacy back in 1993.
