The Baltimore Sun offers 14 tips for those tackling the 26.2-mile race on Saturday.
The annual Baltimore Marathon is this weekend and to help runners, The Baltimore Sun has posted a useful guide broken down into mile segments.
Starting with mile 0, runners are advised by Deirdre Weadock of Charm City Run to dress like its going to be 15 degrees warmer than predicted.
“Feel like you need more clothes to start?” she asks. “Wear articles you’re OK tossing at the sidelines (items are collected for charity). Just be sure to pin your number to a shirt you’ll wear the whole time.”
For mile 6, Weadock suggests not waiting on water and taking advantage of earlier water stops as they tend to get crowded later into the marathon.
Mile 9 is when the marathoners approach where the half marathon is starting. “Smile!” Weadock suggests. “There will be tons of onlookers … Look tough — no one can believe you are running a marathon!”
