Runners who want to apply must show evidence that they were “profoundly and personally affected” by the bombings.
According to an article posted on Boston.com, the Boston Athletic Association will issue special invitations to certain runners who were affected by the Boston Marathon bombings earlier this year.
In order to receive one of these entries, runners must first apply on the Association’s website. Photos and other supporting material other than a written request will not be considered.
The criteria for selection is that the runner must demonstrate that they were ““personally and profoundly impacted by the events of April 15, 2013.”
Applicants must also be able to cover the 26.2 miles in under 6 hours, 30 minutes, and they must be 18 years of age by April 21, 2014. The entry fee for all runners is $325.
Applications are due Nov. 27 and notifications go out Dec. 4.
