The Dartmouth senior won the NCAA Division 1 Cross-Country title.

USA Track & Field has recognized NCAA Division 1 Cross-Country Champion Abbey D’Agostino as its athlete of the week.

D’Agostino, a senior at Dartmouth, prevailed despite the tough conditions in Terre Haute, Ind. two weeks ago.

“It’s incredible,” she said after her win. “I know that I couldn’t have done it without my team here, because that was like the one missing piece when I was here the last couple of years. We were talking about it last night. To have these girls with me on the line was like … there’s nothing to worry about. You know your family is here.”

D’Agostino is a five-time national champion and a 10-time All-American.

She became the first Ivy League runner, male or female, to win the title.

USATF’s Athlete of the Week program, going on its 12th year, is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport.
