A winter storm is supposed to hit the Texas city starting today.

Marcus Grunewal, the race director of this weekend’s Dallas Marathon, has a real challenge on his hands.

A winter storm is heading to the Texas city and will most likely throw a wrench into plans that he’s made for the event.

“When things turn ugly, it really helps to have an experienced race director like Marcus, who has seen it before and has a good feel for how to respond when nature throws you a curveball,” Austin Marathon race director John Conley told the Dallas Morning News.

The major factor in Dallas will be ice that is supposed to blanket Dallas today.

A sold-out Mayor’s Race is scheduled for Saturday and the marathon as well as the half marathon are to be held on Sunday.

“We want to give the race every opportunity to occur, yet be mindful to what the weather may bring us,” said assistant police chief Mike Genovesi. “Our primary interest is making sure that the event — if it goes off — is done safely.”
