It will be called KT82 and is slated to take place next August in Missouri.
What follows is a release posted on the Running USA Web site:
ST. LOUIS – GO! St. Louis announced events and programs announced a new one day, 82-Mile Trail Relay, named KT82 (katy82), which is set for Saturday, August 30, 2014.
The KT82 is the newest entry into the growing number of endurance events that the organization currently presents on a yearly-basis. The race will start in Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis County and finish in Hermann, MO, with the majority of the 82-mile course on the scenic Katy Trail. The course will also include three areas that depart from the Katy Trail. These areas are in St. Charles County, and will include single-track terrain. The additional areas will make up approximately 10 miles of the 82-Mile course. Teams will begin their journey at staggered start times, throughout the day, and conclude with a post-race celebration in the wine country region of Hermann.
“After more than a year of planning and research we are excited to announce our next signature race,” said Nancy Lieberman, GO! St. Louis president. “The KT82 Trail Relay was born out of the tremendous interest in team relay races, along with a growing desire for participants to conquer new and exciting challenges. We are anticipating the KT82 will become a premier race on the endurance circuit and a destination race for the State of Missouri, which was recently named the Best Trail State.”
The KT82 will be open to six-person and three-person teams, from three divisions – male, female and mixed. Teams must select a category such as corporate, open and masters. The KT82 is only open to 200 teams, with a team race fee of $500. Due to the popularity of the race, a special lottery registration will open on February 3, and close on February 17. Interested teams must submit their lottery entry and pay the non-refundable $5.00 donation (all proceeds from the lottery fee will be donated to the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation) to receive the opportunity to compete in the race.
