The race is slated for Feb. 2.
Three-time world championships runner Ben Bruce will make his marathon debut at Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Feb. 2, it was announced on Thursday.
In a press release from Bruce’s training group, Northern Arizona Elite, Bruce said he welcomes the challenge of running 26.2 miles.
“My main goal for the race is to win and get my first experience at the distance,” Bruce said. “Looking ahead to 2016, the marathon will be a focus of mine.”
The announcement comes one day after Competitor Group Inc. said it was reinstating its elite athlete program that supports top-tier and developing athletes at Rock ‘n’ Roll Series races.
Bruce has represented the U.S. at the track & field, cross country and half marathon world championships in recent years. He will focus on the marathon moving forward.
