Aaron Braun, who will make his marathon debut, leads the American men’s lineup.
More than 20 of the world’s top marathoners will compete at the 2014 Asics LA Marathon, it was announced on Thursday.
The field for the March 9 race includes the 2013 men’s champion and runner-up, Erick Mose and Julius Keter, while the women’s lineup boasts five Ethiopian runners who have broken 2:36 at the marathon distance.
American Aaron Braun, who finished second in the U.S. Half Marathon Championships earlier this month, will make his 26.2-mile debut. He’ll be joined by countryman Adam Roach, Stephan Shay and Gabriel Proctor.
There are four U.S. runners in the elite women’s field: Kristen Fryburg-Zaitz, Heather McWhirter, Lindsey Scherf and Lauren Kleppin.
“As we are continually looking to attract an ever growing number of world-class marathoners, we know this year will elevate the level of competition being able to field last year’s men’s champion Erick Mose and runner-up Julius Keter,” LA Marathon CEO Tracey Russell said in a press release. “The 2014 ASICS LA Marathon will be an exciting year for the elites, general runners and the spectators.”
