Day 21: Monday, January 27

Mario Fraioli, Senior Editor: I split up my runs today, heading out at lunch for a 45-minute fartlek session, consisting of 10 x 1:30 hard/1:30 easy. In the evening I joined my wife for an easy 35-minute run before dinner. I’ve gotten into a good groove with training over the last week or so, which excites me.

Caitlyn Pilkington, Associate Editor: Another workout on the elliptical for 30 minutes—nothing too exciting. The foot is moving better again, so workouts in the next week may get a breath of fresh air (literally).

Jason Devaney, Associate Web Editor: Mondays are normally my first (of two) weight training days of the week, so I hit the gym after work and did my usual circuit. It being January, the place was packed with the New Year’s Resolution folks. One person even jumped onto the lat pulldown machine when I walked away for maybe 10 seconds! Fortunately I had already finished and was about to wipe it down.

Allison Pattillo, Contributing Editor: My workout time was limited today, but really wasn’t in the mood for a run. I decided to swim taking a cue from Brian Metzler’s January 9th workout and swam for a solid 30 minutes without counting laps and found it to be wonderfully liberating. I followed with 15 minutes of stretching (and soaking!) in the hot tub.
