Photos: Virginia’s Blue Ridge Marathon

With a self-proclaimed billing of “America’s Toughest Road Marathon,” the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon puts out the welcome mat for runners willing to test their legs and fitness through the rolling hills on the outskirts of Roanoke, Va. Indeed, the race’s punishing terrain is unique. What began in 2010 with 6,140 feet of elevation change has grown each year with this year’s total being 7,430 feet of total elevation change. There’s also a half marathon (with 3,600 feet of elevation change), which also carries a billing of “America’s Toughest.” Are  you tough enough? Scroll through the photos from this year’s event on April 26 to see what this grueling race was all about.
