Sizing Up 2016: Who Will Make The U.S. Olympic Marathon Teams?

The 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon races in Los Angeles are only 12 months away—Feb. 13, 2016. All six members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon team—Meb Keflezighi, Ryan Hall and Abdi Abdirahman; Shalane Flanagan, Desiree Linden and Kara Goucher—are all hoping to repeat their top-3 performances from the 2012 Trials in Houston and earn a spot at the 2016 Games in Rio. Over the past three years, however, a new class of potential contenders has emerged and could shake up the scope of American marathoning as we know it.

Here’s a quick glance at who some of the top men’s and women’s contenders might be next February, based on recent results, PRs and other considerations.
