Elite athletes hit the runway to show off Oiselle’s new apparel.
Oiselle Running, the Seattle-based women’s running apparel brand, hit the runway at Nolcha Fashion Week in New York for the second time on Tuesday. Elite runners Lauren Fleshman and Kara Goucher headlined the show, alongside several other athletes, including hammer thrower Britney Henry. Unlike 2013, CEO Sally Bergesen opted to use athletes who actually race in the gear and test it before it hits stores, rather than models.
“It makes [our athletes] feel more connected to our brand. It’s more authentic when they wear it—they aren’t just selling something, but they are wearing something they like,” Bergesen told Competitor in the September issue.
Goucher, the newest Oiselle-sponsored elite runner, will be debuting one of the new racing kits seen in New York at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon on Sept. 22 and again at the New York City Marathon on Nov. 2.
