This weekend, while all eyes were on the USATF Outdoor Championships, Boston Marathon Champion Desiree Linden quietly announced she’d be leaving the Hansons team. “After doing some soul searching, I’ve made the decision to part ways with the Hansons team,” tweeted Linden. “I’m appreciative of Keith and Kevin’s guidance as well as the support of my former teammates. My journey forward is not yet charted, but every step is part of the process. #runhappy”

Although she will no longer be training with the brothers, Linden will reportedly still remain a Brooks-sponsored athlete. Although no official word on the sponsorship has been released. “Hansons-Brooks Distance Project was established 19 yrs ago to help DEVELOP distance runners,” tweeted the @Hansonsrun. “Still our goal. We are proud of our 13 yr journey with Des. As a 2 time Olympian, Boston Champ and one of the best Americans ever, Des doesn’t need development. She has more than arrived.”

As word spread, thoughts were generally positive with Oiselle runner Kara Goucher noting that, “Change is hard, but sometimes necessary.” And going on to say, “You guys had a great run together and elevated each other. But sometimes you need a fresh start. Good luck with the next chapter. We will follow you wherever you go!!” Asics runner Sarah Hall chimed in as well, saying, “Excited to see what’s next for you! You’ve got good instincts, trust em.”
