Day 20: Sunday, January 26

Brian Metzler, Editor-in-Chief: My legs were a bit tired and I had some nagging pain in my hips, so I took it easy and swam a mile EZ and called it a day.

Mario Fraioli, Senior Editor: This morning I went down to Los Gatos to run with my new friend Mike. We headed to the trails at the St. Joseph’s Hill Open Space Preserve and ran a 9-mile loop, which featured a really steep climb about midway through. The view on the way (pictured above) was totally worth the extra effort.

Caitlyn Pilkington, Associate Editor: No cardio today. I was itching for some upper leg work with weights, so I did some exercises in the gym that I’m feeling today . Probably around 50 squats and a variety of others on the machines.

Jason Devaney, Associate Web Editor: I tested out my knee with a 5-mile run outside late morning. It felt nice to get out again and my IT band felt pretty good. That was followed by swim practice with my coach at night, although it was cut short to just 725 yards (the warmup was 500!) because a kid a few lanes over threw up in the water. It was a real bummer.

Allison Pattillo, Contributing Editor: I went for a 10K run on a snow packed dirt road. Striding it out in the fresh air and the middle of nowhere felt great. I started with headphones but ditched them in favor of the silence. Followed up with a good stretch session.
